Your First Dispensary Visit in Fort Myers
The card arrives and nobody explains the next part. A first visit is short and unremarkable once you know the shape of it. Two things surprise almost everyone, and one of them can send you home empty-handed.

Bring two things, every single time
Your medical marijuana card and a photo ID in the same name. Not one or the other, and not once. Every visit. The approval email the state sends you works immediately and is accepted everywhere the plastic one is.
Your card works at any licensed dispensary in Florida, not only the ones here in Fort Myers. There is nothing to transfer and no home store to nominate.
What happens at the counter
You will be checked in at the door and your card looked up in the state registry before you see any product. This is not a formality. The registry is where your remaining allowance lives, and the staff are reading it rather than taking your word for it.
After that it is a conversation. Staff can tell you what a product is, how it is metered against your allowance, and how it is taken. They aren't clinicians and can't tell you what will help you, which is a boundary worth knowing before you ask.
Two allowances run at the same time and they aren't one pot of credit. Non-smokable products run on a rolling 70-day window under an aggregate ceiling of 24,500 milligrams of THC, though your own limit is the daily dose your physician set for each route, times 70. Smokable flower runs on its own rolling 35-day window capped at 2.5 ounces.
Because they run in parallel, you can have plenty left on one and nothing on the other. That is the usual reason a buy is declined when the patient is certain it should be fine. It isn't a mistake, and not something the counter can override.
Three questions worth asking while you're there
Most people leave having asked none of these, and all three are easier to ask in person than to work out afterward.
- How much of each allowance have I got left? They can see it. It is the single most useful number to leave with.
- When does each one reset? The two dates are different and neither is your card's renewal date.
- How is this particular product counted? Two things that look alike can be metered against different allowances.
What nobody tells you about the drive home
Keep it sealed and keep it in the trunk. Florida's open-container law is about alcohol and says nothing about cannabis, but two other rules still catch it. Using it in a vehicle falls outside the definition of medical use and is a first-degree misdemeanor, and everything you buy has to stay in its original packaging.
Then there is the heat. A car in a Fort Myers afternoon is an oven, and the errand you run on the way home is long enough to matter. Buy last, not first.

What you'll want waiting at home
Integra Boost 62% Packs (8g, 6-pack)
Two-way packs that both release and absorb moisture to hold a sealed container near 62% humidity. One 8g pack covers up to 28 grams, six to a bag, each with an indicator card that turns blue when the pack is spent. In a Florida summer that job never stops.
Cannadew 62% Packs (4g, 10-pack)
The small size, ten to a pack, for jars the 8-gram packs are too big for. The maker is clear that a 62% pack holds a humidity level and does not rescue one, so check the jar with a hygrometer instead of assuming. They go hard once they are spent.
Mini Hygrometer (2-pack)
The instrument humidity packs quietly assume you own. Under two inches, so it sits inside the jar and reads the air right around your flower, which is the reading that counts.
Electric Humidor Cabinet (25L)
A thermoelectric cabinet holding a set temperature and humidity band, and unlike most cigar humidors it reaches down to the 62% band flower wants. Overkill for one jar; sensible if you are storing properly and keeping it out of the way.
This page describes a process and the rules around it. It is not medical or legal advice and it cannot tell you which product suits you. Dispensary staff are not clinicians either. That conversation belongs with your certifying physician.
